Who would have thought that a career in education would lead to supporting the running of small businesses?! Not me! But, as the context for embedded learning at Embark, I can’t imagine learning any other way! As Director of Embark, I’m grateful to support a strong team of leaders in our school, our enterprises, and adult learning as we push on the margins of what is possible for learners (youth and adults) and in learning.

I’m excited to bring the skills and experiences I’ve developed over my career working in innovative education startup spaces as a teacher, program designer, coach, and leader; much of it focused on the practice of project based learning (PBL). This has included designing and delivering training to teachers and school and district leaders in PBL at PBLWorks. Holding different roles at 3 high schools in the New Tech Network, including teaching integrated courses, developing college and career readiness programs, and instituting digital portfolios and yearlong independent inquiry projects.

I also have a background in education policy and partnership development, focusing on college and career readiness. In this realm I’ve worked at the state level to align k-12 and higher education policy, managed a statewide evaluation of high school reform initiatives, and supported the development of an innovative dual enrollment program for the University of Texas at Austin.

I have a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Rochester (NY), a Master of Public Affairs from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at UT Austin, and a Colorado principal license through coursework at University of Colorado - Denver
